This year, easyJet is experiencing its busiest Christmas getaway ever, with over 23,000 flights departing throughout Europe.
With 1662 flights carrying up to 300,000 passengers on the busiest day of the season, December 27, the airline is expected to transport up to 4.1 million passengers during the busy Christmas and New Year period.
Additionally, there are a lot of holiday travellers with festive namesakes; 132 Santas, 28 Rudolphs, 10 Mr Clauses, and 7 Mrs Clauses will be flying during the holidays.
As many people travel from all over the UK to spend time with friends and family, easyJet is expected to transport up to 2.3 million passengers in the UK alone throughout the holiday season.
As the ski season begins, Paris is emerging as the preferred location, but Geneva, the entry point to the Alps, is also a popular alternative.
The most popular destination for people looking to enjoy Christmas in the sun is still Tenerife. With more flights to Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco combined from the UK than any other airline, the airline is running its busiest schedule ever from the UK to North Africa this winter. Eight longer leisure destinations in Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco are now served by flights from ten UK airports. This winter, there will be brand-new flights to Luxor and the Tunisian island of Djerba.
With flights to Lapland, departing from London Gatwick, London Luton, Bristol, Manchester, and Edinburgh up to 22 times per week, as well as Birmingham for the first time this year, the airline is also running its busiest schedule ever from the UK.
The airline is now offering more winter flights to Norway than ever before, including flights to Oslo from Manchester and a new service to Tromso from Gatwick, Manchester, and Bristol.
Sophie Dekkers, the Chief Commercial Officer at easyJet, commented, “The winter holidays are an important time of year for travel for millions of people, with up to four million of them set to fly with easyJet for our unrivalled choice of destinations across Europe and further afield, for what will be our biggest ever Christmas getaway.
“We’re looking forward to taking them away for a well-deserved break, wherever and however they are spending it – whether that’s flying somewhere festive for a magical winter break, escaping the cold and chasing the sun, or to visit friends and family.
“We look forward to welcoming millions more customers onboard in 2025 and we remain focused on providing them with low-cost travel, flying them where they want to go, and always aiming to make the travel experience easy.”
