Direct flights have been introduced by LATAM Airlines on the London-Lima Route between London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), the main international airport capital in Peru. In addition to the carrier’s daily service from Heathrow to Sao Paulo (GRU) in Brazil, the new flight operates five times a week.
Ahead of the inaugural flight on December 2, 2023, a number of senior management members from LATAM held a meeting with Ricardo Romero Talledo, the Director of the Peruvian Trade Commission in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
At 21:00, flight LA2488 leaves Lima and arrives at Heathrow at 14:00. At 22:00, the return flight (LA2489) leaves London and lands in Lima at 06:05 the next morning. According to the itinerary, the flights, which take about 12 hours total, depart Lima on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
LATAM’s fleet of ten Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners operates all flights. In a two-class arrangement, each can hold 247 passengers (30 in business class and 217 in economy).
Davide Ioppolo, the Regional Commercial Director of Central and Southeast Europe, the United Kingdom, Nordic Countries, and South Africa at LATAM Airlines, said, “Today, the realization of connecting the UK and Peru has come to fruition with the launch of this direct route between London and Lima.”
Ioppolo continued: “We are well aware of the excitement generated by this announcement in both countries, fostering great expectations for the future. Our Lima hub seamlessly links to 19 destinations within Peru and over 30 international destinations. With the addition of the seven weekly flights between London and São Paulo, along with the five frequencies of this route to Lima, LATAM Airlines stands out as the optimal choice for travellers, be it for business or leisure, looking to explore South America.”
Travellers from the UK may see one of the Americas’ most fascinating and varied nations—Lima—and its rich natural beauty, gastronomy, and culture through the London to Lima route.
Passengers from London may effortlessly connect to LATAM’s large network of destinations in Peru and other nearby countries by using the hub in Lima.
LATAM Airlines provides service to 144 destinations in 24 countries, including the Falklands, as part of its extensive network. The airline offers more than 60 weekly frequencies to South American destinations from Europe.
From Spain, LATAM connects Barcelona (BCN) to São Paulo and Madrid (MAD) to Santiago de Chile (SCK), Lima, and, starting July 2024, Bogotá in Colombia (BOG).
Direct flights to São Paulo are available from several European cities, including Paris (CDG), Lisbon (LIS), Frankfurt (FRA), Milan (MXP), and Rome (FCO). LATAM also operates a service from Johannesburg (JNB) in South Africa.
