Azerbaijan Airlines has revealed that it will launch new Baku-London Gatwick flights this year. The carrier and its presence in the UK has been predominantly from Heathrow and is the latest airline to be interested in the Gatwick market.
According to a well-renowned news outlet, it is understood that Azerbaijan Airlines will commence the Baku-London Gatwick flights on March 31, 2024.
Although the aircraft type which will be used to operate the flights has not been specified yet, the services will begin on a thrice-weekly basis. If patterns from Heathrow are anything to observe, it could range anywhere between the Boeing 787 Dreamliner or the Airbus aircraft they have in their fleet.
The airline becomes the latest to give Gatwick a chance in terms of such flights, especially after observing enhanced connectivity to Central London in recent years.
After launching similar services to Beijing, Azerbaijan Airlines has been planning to make similar expansions to London Gatwick for quite some time now.
What has also been observed, particularly in Europe and the Middle East, is that services in the CIS region are receiving significant demand. All eyes will be on how the CIS region continues to develop in terms of air connectivity as we enter the new year full of excitement for the industry.
