Almost 2,500 Flights Cancelled in USA Due to Snowstorm

The United States of America has been devastated by heavy snowstorms. Excessive cold has suspended the daily lifestyle of the country. The US Meteorological Agency has warned that severe weather will affect 26 states in the central and northeastern regions. Meanwhile, a few thousand flights were cancelled and delayed in the USA on Monday, 15 January.

According to the US National Weather Service (NWS), Iowa, Missouri and Texas were affected by the snowstorm. Temperatures there dipped below the freezing point which is the ‘all-time lowest’ temperatures recorded in each of the states.

According to the weather service forecast, cold weather will affect 26 states of central and northeastern regions in the next few days. Densely populated cities including Washington, New York and Boston will also see their coldest days of the season.

On Monday, 15 January, the capital of the country, Washington D.C., including Virginia and Maryland, was lightly covered by snow.

The unfavourable weather has also affected the country’s air traffic. According to an Aviation-centered website, a total of 2,352 flights were cancelled in the USA on Monday. And another 5,726 flights have been delayed.
