EasyJet Holidays, the UK’s fastest growing tour operator, for the first time ever launched a holiday package to Akureyri on sale yesterday, which was only made possible for its airline, EasyJet, announcing the addition of a brand new route from London Gatwick to Akureyri in North Iceland in its network.
Akureyri is known as ‘The Capital of the North’ lying at the base of Eyjafjörður Fjord in Northern Iceland. Its location is ideal as it is just a short drive from many of Iceland’s top natural, cultural and historical attractions.
The first flight on the route will take off in the Autumn, giving a chance of booking a city break to this gateway to the north’s spectacular beauty. The holiday package from EasyJet Holidays includes 23kg luggage per person, flights and hotel accommodation.
Some brand new hotels were put on sale in the Akureyri area by the company. The list of hotels includes some luxurious choices which include the 4-star Hotel Siglo by Keahotels which has a large pool overlooking fishing boats, and the 4-star Hotel Myvatn which is near the Myvatn nature baths. Customers can easily book All the hotels through their trusted travel agent.
Apart from all the luxurious amenities provided by the 4-star Hotels, Holidaymakers can enjoy a huge range of leisure activities including whale watching, exploring the country’s stunning waterfalls, taking in the beauty of the phenomenal landscapes or being mesmerised by the Northern Lights.
The brand new route to the Akureyri is only one of eight new routes on sale on Saturday by the tour operator. The other holiday packages include routes between Birmingham and Paris, and from Bristol to Marrakech. The offer on city breaks starts from £269 and beach holidays from £299 per person.
Kelly Walker, the Head of Distribution at EasyJet Holidays, said: “We’re thrilled to be adding this brand new destination to our portfolio. Iceland is an incredible country, and Akureyri opens up even more of a breath-taking destination to explore, so I’m confident our travel agent partners and mutual customers will be as excited as we are.”
