Lufthansa City Airline Starts Ticket Sales for First Flight in June

On June 26, 2024, Lufthansa City Airlines, the newest airline in the Lufthansa Group, will begin operating its air services, with its inaugural flight taking off from Munich to Birmingham. Visitors can now purchase tickets for direct flights from Munich to other locations as well as feeder services operated by Lufthansa. Bookings for the available routes under flight numbers with the new airline code “VL” will then be possible through the well-known Lufthansa Group sales channels.

The feeder network of Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt and Munich incorporates Lufthansa City Airlines completely. The airline is starting its daily schedule from Munich to domestic German and European locations like Birmingham, Hanover, and Düsseldorf.

The A320 family of aircraft is helping the small airline get off the ground. The fuel-efficient Airbus A220-300 type has 40 brand-new aircraft ordered, plus an additional 20 purchase options, from the Lufthansa Group, sending a clear signal for the airline’s future. Lufthansa City Airlines will progressively extend its network and add more European destinations as its fleet grows.

For our guests and employees, we are driving forward our renewal and thus strengthening Lufthansa’s planned growth in long-haul traffic.”
