To position Qatar as the top vacation destination, trade journalists and travel agents were taken on an all-inclusive familiarisation trip to Doha by Qatar Airways and Qatar Tourism. Travellers can choose to add a stopover package in Doha to their itinerary by purchasing them through Discover Qatar (DQ), the destination management company for Qatar Airways. In the metropolitan Msheireb Downtown Doha, His Excellency Mr Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, and Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways Group, hosted a news conference.

The mission of Qatar Airways is to provide unique travel experiences and establish Doha as a must-visit stopover location. Five fascinating choices are available for travellers starting their journey on Qatar Airways’ network of more than 170 destinations with DQ’s stopover packages. They are,

Standard: 4-star hotel options

All stopover packages include 24-hour check-in facilities so guests can make the most of their time in Qatar. They can be tailored to add-on options including airport assistance, transfers and a range of tours and experiences to enhance their stay, such as City and Desert Tours.

Qatar Airways showcased its summer schedule, network growth, and interesting destinations for both short and long-term travel during the press conference. The airline hopes to attract more foreign travellers to transit through Hamad International Airport, the best airport in the Middle East, with its new route to Hamburg and its return to Venice. DQ’s stopover packages allow travellers to include Doha as a destination for their layover.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “Our 2024 network expansion offers a very exciting summer schedule, which includes our resumption to Venice and our new route to Hamburg, along with increased frequencies on various international routes. We are committed to creating unforgettable travel experiences which will transform transit time as well as the airport experience itself. Looking ahead to the future, I am confident that Qatar is set to become the top stopover destination globally.”

H.E. Mr Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, Commented at the press conference, “The ‘Stopover in Qatar’ offering is an embodiment of continuity of the cooperation between Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways providing travellers with the opportunity to expand their destination experience and explore this remarkable country.
