London City Regains Lithuania Route

London City regains Lithuania route

Vilnius is to be served again from London City airport with flights co-funded by the Lithuanian government.

LOT Polish Airlines initially won a tender to operate the Public Service Obligation route in a process started by Lithuania in summer 2018.

Flights between Vilnius and London City were launched in May 2019 but had to be suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

The service is going to be resumed on August 31 with up to 12 flights a week using a 106-seat Embraer 190 regional jet.

A LOT spokesperson said: “After very difficult times of lockdown and suspension of international air travel caused by the global pandemic, we observe an increased passenger demand for international travel.

“Therefore, by the end of this summer, we would like to invite onboard passengers who regularly travel between Lithuania and Great Britain.

“The reintroduced flights are expected to attract a lot of interest and contribute to a strengthening of relations between Lithuania and Great Britain.”
