Việt Nam Culinary Culture Association (VCCA) made a project announcement according to which Vietnam is planning to promote its national cuisine internationally to attract more tourists’ attention to the country.

VCCA will be selecting 100 special Vietnamese dishes among 300 options and collecting data about those generic dishes to promote them abroad.

Lã Quốc Khánh, the president of the VCCA, said that the first step in promoting the country’s culinary culture on an international level is the selection of the 100 most popular and delicious Vietnamese dishes.

Numerous food artisans such as Phan Gia Tôn Hiền, Hồ Đắc Thiếu Anh, Nguyễn Thị Hiền and Lê Thị Thiết took part in the surveys conducted by the association in the five northern provinces and cities of Nam Định, Hà Nam, Thái Nguyên, Phú Thọ and Hà Nội to find the best of the best local foods in late March of this year.

VCCA will also use this data to sort out the most exquisite and popular Vietnamese dishes from different regions to promote them internationally.

They also plan to create a Vietnamese cuisine museum in Huếand for that they are trying to build a database of 1,000 Vietnamese dishes by 2024.

The Professional Council of the VCCA will be conducting the selection process through public consultation via press and social media channels.

This year, the World Travel Awards nominated Vietnam as Asia’s Leading Destination, Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, Asia’s Leading Nature Destination, Asia’s Leading City Break Destination, Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination, Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination, Asia’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination, Asia’s Leading Tourist Board and Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination.

And now it seems like Vietnam is planning to add another category to its appeal, which will be its culinary heritage.
